Scary Stories for High School: "The Birthmark" by Nathaniel Hawthorne

This is a great story to use with students around Halloween! I use this lesson whenever my students are distracted by the seasonal festivities, but still need to practice literary analysis. The lesson utilizes the short story, "The Birthmark" by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Students must read, analyze the text, and complete 3 literary analysis stations which focus on Theme, Social Commentary, Symbols, and Characterization.
