This is a great story to use with students around Halloween! I use this lesson whenever my students are distracted by the seasonal festivities, but still need to practice literary analysis. The lesson utilizes the short story, "The Man Who Loved Flowers" by Stephen King. Students must read, analyze the text, and complete a short project using something that they love: MUSIC! There are 5 creative writing options that push students to condense their thoughts and utilize literary elements. I've also included task cards that push students to think critically about the text.
Includes:
- Link to Full text "The Man Who Loved Flowers" by Stephen King
- 12 Task cards + answer key: literary elements, critical thinking, theme support, symbolism, motifs, etc.
- 5 Creative Writing Options
- Music Project to show students how to analyze mood, theme, and lyrics!
