I've bundled my top 4 best-selling Distance Learning resources for the English Language Arts classroom. When you purchase this product, you'll receive
1. Distance Learning ELA Skills for Literature | Use with Any Novel or Story
Distance learning in high school can be complicated! I've put together a digital learning choice board to practice ELA skills for ANY novel or short work of fiction. This way, you do not have to come up with a different activity for every class. You can simply share this digital resource then assign different skills within the resource. The product is downloaded as a PDF where you will receive a link to a Google Slides presentation.
This product comes with 10 unique activities that work well with any novel or short work of fiction. The activities push students to think beyond the surface level of a text without getting bogged down with pages upon pages of writing.
The assignments cover topics such as:
- Imagery Quilt Piecing
- Author's Purpose Home Building
- Looking into the Crystal Ball of Foreshadowing
- Shifting Tones Playlist
- Create a Podcast for a Character
- Point of View Text Messages
- Objective Summary Acrostic
- Building a Theme Jigsaw Puzzle
- Conflict Postcards
- Watering a Symbolism Garden
Please note that there are no answer keys attached because it would be impossible to create an answer key that covered every possible novel/short story. You will have to read through and assign point values/grades to the students' work based on your own grading standards.
As we are all exploring an uncharted, educational "frontier", I kindly ask that you email me with any questions or issues that you may be having with this product. You can contact me at any time by emailing LilyAGibby@gmail.com or CelebratingSecondary@gmail.com. I will be more than happy to accommodate your requests or concerns. I've tried to create videos to explain any issues or questions that may come up, but I'll be happy to create more if needed.
2. Distance Learning ELA | Choice Board Using Netflix
Distance learning in high school can be complicated! I've put together a digital learning choice board to practice ELA skills using something most of our students are using anyway - NETFLIX! Students will be able to learn, use, and refine ELA skills without even realizing that they're learning!
This product comes with a choice board for students to select specific genres of films or TV shows to watch on Netflix + an activity for each film/show. The activities tackle a wide range of ELA skills from theme and inferencing to purpose, persuasion, and even creative thinking. You will receive the activity to share with students along with video instructions to share with your students, as well. I've also included detailed teacher instructions for this product.
Students will be prompted to complete 3 activities in a row (you can always edit the instructions, too) from the choice board.
The assignments cover topics such as:
- Central Idea
- Rhetoric
- Tone
- Theme
- Inferencing
- Creative thinking
- Characterization
- Purpose
- Figurative Language
....etc.
Please note that there are no answer keys attached because it would be impossible to create an answer key that covered every possible film/show option. You will have to read through and assign point values/grades to the students' work based on your own grading standards.
